Somewhat of a general knowledge of what a balanced diet is and what it consist of is very important. Become familiar with foods and what you need to consume everyday before starting a new diet. There are six groups of food you need to pay attention to in order to start and maintain a healthy balanced diet. These groups are:

  • Fruit (Oranges, bananas, raspberries)
  • Bread, Cereal (Whole grain,multi-grain. Oats, fiber, rice, pasta)
  • Vegetables (Spinach, broccoli, asparagus)
  • Dairy (Milk, cheese)
  • Protein (Meats, eggs)
  • Fat's & Sweets

Keep in mind:

Be sure to try to follow the recommended portions and servings as closely as possible. Going over the recommended servings of fruit and vegetables is fine.

  • 0-3 servings of fats, oils, sweets 
  • 2-3 servings (6 - 9 ounces) of meat/protein 
  • 2-3 servings of dairy 
  • 2-4 servings of fruit 
  • 3-5 servings of vegetables 
  • 3-5 servings bread/starch

  1. Eating a balanced diet can be tricky and somewhat time consuming. A certain plan or layout for your meals everyday is recommend. 
  2. Mixing different variations of food as well as the time you sit down to eat them can mix things up and keep it interesting. 
  3. Each food group if consumed the recommend amount in consistency will be responsible for numerous changes in your body with everything from giving you more energy to having clearer and cleaner skin. 
  4. When trying to quit a bad diet and get in the groove of constantly eating healthy, it can be a little easier on the individual if the diet is changed at a slow pace, day by day. 
  5. Starting a diet off slowly can decrease the amount of anxiety you feel at times. You're stress won't be as high and the urge to cheat is reduced considerable. 
  6. Day by day cut out something bad but still making sure to have one or two naughty rewards for sticking to your new diet. 
  7. Before you know it, you can be down to one naughty thing a day and be focusing more on your balanced diet. 
  8. When being on a balanced diet, exercise is very important as well to keep in shape and stay healthy. We do recommend cardio workouts, as these excercise is to be considered as one of the healthiest ways of training.
